Press Statement for release on 15 Jun 2017
Protest demands justice for Grenfell
Grenfell neighbourhood residents have called a protest 6pm Friday 16 June at Department for Communities and Local Government 2 Marsham Street, SW1P 4DF.

See Facebook event.

Residents say: 'At least 12 people have died in the fire at Grenfell Tower. They deserve justice. We demand answers.'
See see Grenfell Action Group warning.

Landlords ignoring safety warnings from tenants and others - Fire safety report on 4,000 blocks ignored.

Tenant groups and campaigners are supporting the protest, in solidarity, shock and anger at the cost in lives, when landlords don't listen.

Eileen Short, chair of Defend Council Housing says: 'Grenfell tenants are dead and injured, and homeless, because their council did not listen. We need a full, immediate safety enquiry into Grenfell and every other block. We need full funding for any improvements including sprinkler systems, recommended by fire services. And landlords must be forced to listen to tenants views and warnings about redevelopment threats to homes and lives.'
